Electronic Grandmother's Tooth Fairy Pillow ©2001 Marian Stamler Electronic Grandmother Custom Designs at: http://mrstamler.home.att.net/ When my six-year-old grandson came to visit me for a few days, his bottom tooth was wiggling. My daughter thought he needed a pillow for the Tooth Fairy. She suggested I embroider one for him. So I put him to work. First thing, he asked for a mirror so he could see what his teeth looked like. He beamed while he drew the pictures. Then he sorted through my stash for the perfect fabric. I digitized the designs to be simple so he could help with the embroidery. This was a perfect project for my little guy. When it came time to sew, he picked out the thread, put on a pair of safety glasses and listened intently when I explained what he would do. Then he pushed the buttons to bring up the design, position it, pressed the sew slow key, the pedal and O.K. He was amazed the machine could stitch by itself. I sat in front of the machine to be sure his fingers were not tempted. We were a proud pair when it was done. That evening, his first tooth fell out. Talk about perfect timing! To make the pillow: Cut out 2 pieces of fabric to fit in the embroidery hoop so you can cut the sections when done to 6" x 5". Also cut one piece of fabric, not embroidered, to 6" x 5" for the piece under the pocket. |
