Behind the Scene with Marian Stamler

I am primarily interested in producing unique designs for my computer classes. I started packaging designs in 1995 to satisfy customer requests. My abilities with the web are being tested for the same reason. In the process, it is my hope you see something that sparks your interest.

Sewing is my life and the computer added spice to it. I was a high school sewing teacher from 1950 to1992 and a free-lance computer-embroidery-sewing teacher in the Cleveland area since 1993.

This is a one-woman operation and e-mail is the only way I can assure you will get the design when it is ordered.

Other personal information:

The self-portrait above shows the tote bag I designed to show off the versatility of the PC-Designer™ Software using pattern #158 from the Pfaff 7570 machine. It appears on the machine screen, then changed and placed on the computer screen, then resized, regrouped and placed as a necklace on the self-portrait, and resized and regrouped to put on the wires connecting the computer and machine.

My patterns are all original stitch designs, many of which were done from snapshots taken while visiting or vacationing. My brother and his wife built a house in Fairport Harbor on Lake Erie, which provided the inspiration for that lighthouse. I did that design so I could make them custom designed shirts as house warming gifts.

I try to give more depth to the finished design by layering threads or by using underlay fabric or foam. I like to try out different techniques to stretch sewing skills - both mine and my customers. Detailed directions explain the techniques. Many customers needed help finding designs for the Big Hoop. A trip to Bob Evans Farm gave me the idea to do the Windmill located on the farm.

My work was featured in the Pfaff Club Magazine issue #25, September, 1999. The designs shown in the article "Pretty as a Picture, Turn Photos into Works of Art" also shows the photo I took of Cape Hatteras before they moved it. The designs are now included on my site. It was an honor to be in the Magazine.

A Computer Doodle Denim jacket I entered in the Cuyahoga Fair in 1994 was awarded second prize in the Embroidery Category. This was my first entry in any competition. The jacket was done using the Pfaff 1475 and maxi stitches designed with the PC-Designer™ Software. My eight-year-old grandson used the program to design one of the motifs I used on the sleeves.

The following year, my Stitch Explosion Jacket done on the 7550 was awarded Best of Show in the Embroidery category. I altered 8 stitches from the machine to make as many different looks as I could-then fit the design to the area. I also entered a tote bag with maxi stitches using bobbin work. The tote bag received the blue ribbon.

Since the embroidery unit became available, I've been busy designing and teaching and haven't done much regular sewing.

I would appreciate knowing how my web page worked for you. I am especially interested in download time, and whether the graphics displayed properly.
